Mechanism of action of Arbutin working at the cellular level. Arbutin, a glycoside of hydroquinone, functions as a competitive inhibitor of the tyrosinase enzyme. It achieves this by targeting the L-tyrosine binding site, effectively suppressing melanogenesis and producing depigmenting effects on the skin. Arbutin plays a role in blocking the biosynthesis of epidermal melanin by inhibiting the enzymatic oxidation of Tyrosine and Dopa 2. By acting on the melanin pathway, it effectively suppresses melanin activity.
Mechanism of action of Retinol working at the cellular level. UV radiation activates a series of phospokinases that stimulate proto-oncogenes and thereby activate AP-1 transcription factor. AP-1 Causes activation of metalloproteases such as collagenase, gelatinase and stromelysin which break down collagen. Retinol results in a 70% inhibition of AP-1 transcription factor binding to DNA and a significant reduction in protease activity. Histologic effects include increased epidermal and granular layer thickness, elimination of dysplasia, atypic and microscopic actinic keratoses; uniform dispersion of melanin granules, increased collagen and glycosaminoglycan deposition in the papillary dermis; and diminished dermal elastosis, angiogenesis, and compaction/thinning of the stratum corneum.
Product Facts
Store in a cool, dry place. For use only under physician supervision.
Dosage & Administration: In the evening, apply a thin film to a freshly cleansed face. Preferably apply soon after cleansing, while the skin is still moist. Spread the cream evenly and allow to absorb naturally. Once absorbed, follow with moisturizer only if needed. Once satisfactory results achieved, decrease frequency of application, so use every other one or two evenings using Cocco Clinique MD Vita-C instead. Store in a cool dry place.
